Man arrested for Mahlabathini murders
Updated | By African News Agency (ANA)
A man who allegedly shot dead four people and wounded four others in a domestic dispute has been arrested in Mahlabathini, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Sunday.
A pistol had also been seized, according to a tweet on the SA Police Service official twitter page. No further details were provided.
On Saturday, KwaZulu-Natal premier Senzo Mchunu expressed shock and said he was saddened by the “gruesome killing of Bhubesi Ntini and three of his neighbours on Friday evening at Dlebe, Mahlabathini”. Another four people had been wounded.
“These four men were shot and killed by a family member after an argument over the request by the son that his father must sent the cows (sic). This is a very shocking incident to greet the new year in our province. We are very sad about the loss of so many lives,” he said.
“No matter how much people differ, to kill someone does not solve any problem. We must appeal for calm and restraint in this area. I urge everyone to co-operate with the police and to ensure that the perpetrator is brought to book,” he said.
