Man arrested for rape in Johannesburg
A 21-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping a 25-year-old woman in her bedroom in the early hours of Tuesday morning in Johannesburg, police said.
Warrant Officer Xola Mbele said the man allegedly attacked the woman in her flat at the corner of Polly Street and Albertina Sisulu Street. The woman was assaulted at 01: 00.
“The suspect came to her room, choked and raped her,” Mbele said. Police were called soon after the alleged rape.
When the police arrived they found the accused drinking with his friends in the same building. They arrested him and took him to Johannesburg Central Police Station, where he is still being held.
He will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate Court.
