Man drowns at KZN beach during baptism ceremony
A man drowned on Monday afternoon after he was swept out to sea at Umdloti beach on KwaZulu-Natal’s North coast, Netcare 911 said.
“Reports from the scene indicate that the man was being baptised when he was swept into the water,” the paramedic service said in a statement.
“Lifeguards swam out, pulled the unresponsive patient onto the beach, and started with CPR.”
Paramedics, who arrived on scene later, used advanced life support to help resuscitate the man, but to no avail.
The man was later declared dead on scene. -African News Agency
