Man leaves rape victim R70 ‘to buy a pizza’

Police have arrested a man who allegedly raped a student in Johannesburg and then left the victim R70 “to buy a pizza”.
The rape took place in Marshalltown on Sunday.
Police spokesperson Xoli Mbele says suspect was arrested on the same day.
He says the 18-year-old woman was in her room in Waveland House when the suspect knocked on her door.

"When the man came inside he asked for her roommate and he replied that she was not around. The man took advantage and locked the door and pushed the victim on the bed.
"After he finished apologised and left R70 on top of the table and told her to go and buy a pizza.”
Mbele says investigations are underway.
The suspect will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrates Court soon.
