The Johannesburg metro police have arrested a man in Hillbrow for possessing R1500 in counterfeit money.
Metro police spokesperson Xolani Fihla said officers acted on a tip-off from a member of the public, who claimed the man had scammed them out of their money.
The officers were given the description of the suspect.
"The male suspect was spotted. The officers observed his movements as he kept going in and out of the building at Van Der Merwe Street and Banket Street.
"The officers approached the male as he exited the building. He was searched, and R50 notes amounting to R1500 were found in his possession," said Fihla.
The suspect is set to appear in court soon.
