A 32-year-old man was sentenced to life imprisonment for rape of a five-year-old girl, North west police said on Friday.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Kelebogile Moleko said the man was sentenced at the Atamelang Regional Court on Thursday.
He raped the girl on December 2, 2012, after he convinced her to go with him at his house. The girl was sent by his parents to buy chips at a tuckshop.
“The minor went home holding her panty on her hand and told her parents what had transpired. The parents went to the police to lay a charge of rape and the suspect was arrested.”
