A 30-year-old man, on trial for the murder of his wife, has been arrested in connection with his mother's death.
Limpopo police say the suspect was arrested outside Polokwane on Friday afternoon.
Provincial police spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe says it's alleged the suspect opened fire on his mother and her domestic worker on 19 September.
The 51-year-old Mahejeen Banu Patel later died in hospital.
"The old lady was rushed to hospital for medical attention where she passed on a few hours later and the domestic worker did not sustain any injuries. The motive behind this killing is still not clear as nothing was taken from the deceased house," Ngoepe says.
The suspect's father had been shot dead during a robbery in 2016.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Polokwane Magistrate's Court on a charge of murder on Monday.
His wife, Fatima, was found dead at the couple's rented Nirvana home in April 2015.
She had been strangled, beaten and shot.
