Limpopo police have launched a manhunt for suspects who kidnapped and raped a teenage girl while on her way to school in Makhado.
The 15-year-old was kidnapped on Friday at Dzanani village.
Police spokesperson Hlulani Mashaba says the girl was allegedly gang-raped the whole weekend.
"Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was on her way to school at Tshituni Tshafhas village when a red sedan motor vehicle with three occupants suddenly stopped next to her and one of the occupant, alighted from the vehicle and hit her with a crutch walking stick where she lost consciousness," says Mashaba.
"The suspects then dragged the victim into the vehicle and drove with her to a house where they took turns raping her. The police have since opened three counts of rape and kidnapping to this effect. "
"The victim endured the horrendous ordeal throughout the weekend and only managed to escape on Sunday after she was left with the suspect who uses crutches," says Mashaba.
A 24-year-old suspect has since been arrested and is expected to appear before Dzanani Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
