‘Woolworths must remove Israeli products or we will’ - Malema
EFF leader Julius Malema has called on Woolworths to remove all Israeli products from its shelves by the end of the month.
Malema spoke outside the Israeli Embassy in Pretoria on Monday, where he led a march in solidarity with the people of Palestine.
The Israel-Gaza war has so far claimed the lives of more than 5,000 Palestinians and left over 1,400 people dead in Israel.
"Woolworths has got a responsibility to remove, by the end of this month…every product on their shelves that comes from Israel; if they don't remove the products, we will go and remove them ourselves," said Malema.
"We don't want any product of Israel sold here in South Africa, we don't want the food that comes from the people that have the blood of innocent people in their hands."
"We are coming for you because you are the ones who make that government to be what it is. If we engage in an international boycott of all products from Israel, Israel will hear that now we have to respect the rights of Palestinians," he said.
Malema has also called out McDonalds South Africa to distance itself from McDonald's Israel after they gave free meals to the Israel Defence Forces and citizens after Hamas' surprise attack two weeks ago.
"They have until the end of this month to issue a statement distancing themselves from what McDonald is doing in Israel, giving murders food to murder women and children," he said.
