Marching students met by security at UNISA
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
Students were met by security guards at UNISA's main campus in Pretoria after they marched through the streets of Pretoria on Monday to call for free higher education.
Security guards formed a line to keep students from setting foot on campus, with students deciding to keep a safe distance.
The group of students, most of them from the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT), marched to the offices of the Department of Higher Education earlier today.
Students across the country have resolved to close all universities following the announcement by Higher Education and Training Minister Blade Nzimande that universities determine their own fee increments for next year.

The Student Representative Council (SRC) at UNISA last week said they will not decide on any protest action until an official announcement is made by the university over fees.
Professor Somadoda Fikeni addressed the students.
Fikeni said management will be meeting this afternoon to reflect on what has been communicated by students.
