Maseko described as a humble and loving person
Updated | By Lindiwe Mpanza
A family representative and friend to Mandla Maseko lauded the short life lived by the man known as “Afronaut” before his death at the weekend.
Mrs Manana spoke at the memorial service of 30-year-old Maseko in Pretoria on Wednesday.
Maseko also known as “Spaceboy” was set to become the first black African in space when he landed a coveted seat to fly 103-kilometres into space in 2015, after winning a competition organised by a US-based space academy.
Maseko died in a motorbike accident over the weekend.
Manana says he was a humble soul and a loving person.
"Mandla made time for each and one of his friends regardless of how many they were and I don't know how he made time, but he did it."
He will be buried on Saturday.
