Mashaba to collect close to R1 billion in arrears from business

The city says more than 2000 businesses and government departments have outstanding payments with the city.
Johannesburg Mayor Herman Mashaba will this morning lead a revenue collection blitz around the city, in an attempt to collect almost R1billion in arrears owed to the City.
Spokesperson for the office of the Executive Mayor, Siyanda Makhubo says the revenue collection blitz is hoping to collect revenue from over 2000 businesses which have failed to pay for the city's services.

"The collection blitz is a joint intervention between City Power and the Revenue Shared Services Centre to collect arrear amounts owed to the city by businesses across the 7 regions, excluding the areas that are supplied with electricity by Eskom,'' says Makhubo.
Mashaba will be joined by the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) Police Chief David Tembe, the Head of the city's Group Forensics Investigative Department, General Shadrack Sibiya and the Head of Legal Services, Isaac Mogashoa and senior officials from the city and entities
