Massive cash haul at East Rand homes

Two separate raids by the Ekurhuleni
Metro Police lead to the discovery of large amounts of cash at two homes on the
East Rand on Monday.
The raids come amid a spate of cash-in-transit robberies in Gauteng.
Ekurhuleni Metro Police spokesperson Wilfred Kgasago says officers swooped on a house in Tsakane following a tip-off they received from a member of the public.
During the raid officers encountered a couple in the house who told them of a large amount of cash “inside and outside the house”.

Kgasago says the woman further told them of more money hidden at a house in Pimville in Springs.
"The allegations are that this money was stolen by an SBV employee and those two houses were used to hide the money."
The security firm SBV has since denied the
involvement of any of their employees.
Jacaranda FM News understands that the arrest of a security guard from another company is imminent.
It’s still unclear whether the money found was stolen during the recent spate of cash heists in the province.
Kgasago says four people, including the couple, were arrested and will appear in court soon.
He could not confirm the exact amount of cash found at the two homes amid reports that it could be as much as R1.5 million.
