Massive turnout as Zuma addresses ANC victory celebrations in northern KZN
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
The ANC believes winning eDumbe Municipality in northern KZN is a sign of the substantial inroads they're making in the Zululand District Municipality.
The ANC is hosting a victory celebration in the area after winning the majority of votes in the municipality in this year's Local Government Elections.
The party is governing the municipality for the first time in the history of the municipal polls.
Out of the eight wards in the municipality, the ANC won six. The other two were won by the IFP.
Speaking ahead of Zuma's address, ANC Provincial Spokesperson Mdumiseni Ntuli said they're pleased with the turnout.
"The ANC has never led this municipality. President Zuma came here, and one of the undertakings he made was to return to the area, because a victory here would be consolidating the presence of the ANC in this part of the province," Ntuli said.
