Matric pass rate increases

The 2017 matric pass rate has increased from 72.5% in 2016 to 75.1% in 2017.

Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga released the results in Auckland Park on Thursday.
A total of 401 435 full and part time learners passed the matric examinations.
The results for provinces are as follows:
Free State: 86%
Gauteng: 85.1%
Western Cape: 82.7%
North West: 79.4%
Northern Cape: 75.6%
Mpumalanga: 74.8%
KwaZulu Natal 72.8%
Limpopo: 65.6%
Eastern Cape: 65%
Motshekga says they will continue giving attention to the Eastern Cape and Limpopo to improve the overall learner performance.
