Matric pupil killed at Limpopo school camp

The Department of Education in Limpopo has confirmed the death of a grade 12 pupil at a school camp.

Willem Ngoepe died on Friday after another pupil at the camp allegedly used an object to hit Ngoepe on his head.
The incident happened at Mpirwabirwa Secondary School on Thursday evening and Ngoepe succumbed to his injuries the next day.
The school is in the Mogalakwena Local Municipality.
Limpopo Education Member of the Executive Committee (MEC) Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya has sent a message of condolences to the family.
Education department spokesperson, Mike Maringa says the department will dispatch social workers to the school today.
"We have since activated our social workers to visit the school to give psychosocial support and we also understand that the case has been reported to SAPS and the investigations will also give us a directive as to what we need to do going forward," says Maringa.
