Matric pupil, man arrested with drugs worth R500 000

A 30-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman were arrested for being in possession of drugs valued at R500 000 as well as R20 433 in cash.
Police said the arrests were made during a crime prevention patrol in Bonteheuwel, Bishop Lavis in Cape Town.
The police, during a patrol, stopped a white Hyundai Sonata with two passengers and requested to search the two and the vehicle.
“Members then found three plastic bags containing heroin in the glove box between the seats to an estimated street value of R500 000 and also found R20 443.10 in cash in the vehicle,” Western Cape Police spokesperson FC Van Wyk said.
Both suspects, who were from Belgravia in Athlone were arrested. The woman is a matric pupil at an Athlone school.
A case of dealing in drugs was opened for investigation.
