Matron suspended for alleged racism
Updated | By Olivia Phalaetsile
A matron in the maternity ward at Steve Biko Academic Hospital has been suspended following allegations of racism.

The Gauteng Health Department said the matron allegedly used the 'K' word when referring to black nurses.
Health MEC Qedani Mahlangu said the suspension is pending an investigation.
"There is prima facie evidence that the matron used the 'K' word, we are waiting for a report into the allegations to decide the way forward," she said.
