Residents took to the streets on Monday after some houses, illegal built on a piece of land, were demolished.

Mashatile and Ramokgopa is expected to do a walkabout in the area and engage with residents.

The community made it clear that they have a right to live on the land and that they have no plans to move.

Despite a temporary agreement between community leaders and the local police, that residents could go back home, Tshwane Metro Police maintain that people are occupying the land illegally.

Residents speaking on the condition of anonymity say they want officials to stabilise the situation and assure them they can stay on the land, which they say was approved for them to live on by a local councillor.

Four people have so far been arrested in connection with the violence and destruction of the past two days and one suspect is facing a charge for murder.

It relates to the two security guards killed on Monday.
