Mbalula: I can’t make e-tolls decision alone
Updated | By Sinethemba Madolo
Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula says he cannot resolve the thorny issue of the future of the e-toll system by himself.
Mbalula made the comments at the release of the Easter road death statistics Thursday afternoon.
The future of the system was meant to be announced by the start of April, but Mbalula said he cannot make any pronouncement until cabinet has decided.
Mbalula said he is engaged with National Treasury and cabinet regarding the matter.

He added that there is a lot government has to consider before making a final decision.
"In terms of the economy, in terms of the implications. We want to build roads - the roads that you see that are so beautiful in Gauteng - is because they have been subsidised by you.
"Once you stop subsidising those roads, SANRAL will not be able to maintain," he said.
There is no indication as to when a final decision would be announced.
