Sport Minister Fikile Mbalula and some of the country's sporting personalities will do their 67 minutes of Mandela Day service by painting an old age home in Eldorado Park on Thursday.
Mbalula would be joined by Gauteng sport MEC Lebogang Maile, and Johannesburg sport and community development mayoral committee member Chris Vondo, the sports ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.
Springbok rugby players and Bafana Bafana football players would lend a hand at the Andries Meyer Old Age Home.
"Besides painting, the home will also receive appropriate sporting equipment as part of government's active ageing programme. Also to benefit is the local creche across the old age home which will receive children's books as part of the born to read programme."
Mbalula would give sporting equipment to 10 schools in Eldorado Park and the surrounding areas.
Other activities on the day, at Krematart Park, would include a fun walk, coaching clinics, and a five-a-side football tournament.
