Mbalula gets jabbed alongside traffic cops
Updated | By Gaopalelwe Phalaetsile
Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula joined scores of traffic officials who got their Covid-19 jabs for the first time.
Speaking at one of Gauteng's 600 vaccination sites in Moreleta Park, Mbalula said they were encouraged by the willingness of police officers to get jabbed.
"As ministers, we have not vaccinated in our numbers, we have been joining the society in terms of our age groups. We are very encouraged by the police and that now you too have an opportunity."
He told the traffic officers that the jab will reduce fatalities.
The country is now on adjusted level 3 of the lockdown opening up for interprovincial travel.
Mbalula said the government's focus right now is ramping up vacciations.
"Now we are incorporating in the battle plan the vaccine and we have also intervened in terms of each level when it comes to regulations to push back where we have been attacked by the mutation of the virus. We have responded well. But now the biggest and bigger one is the vaccine.”
But Mbalula emphasised that the vaccine is not a cure and all other Covid-19 regulations should be implemented.
