Former president Thabo Mbeki says he believes Nelson Mandela will be sent home soon to recuperate, Eye Witness News reported on
Sunday.
Mbeki said he knew the ailing elder statesman's doctors and that they were doing an excellent job, the station reported.
He was speaking at a memorial lecture for former African National Congress president Zaccheus Mahabane on Saturday.
Mandela was spending his 37th day in the Medi-Clinic Heart hospital in Pretoria on Sunday. He was admitted on June 8 due to a recurring lung infection.
Last week, the presidency said Mandela was responding to treatment but was still in a critical but stable condition.
