A 38-year-old municipal employee from Mbombela is expected to appear in the Nelspruit Magistrate Court soon in connection with the murder of a provincial traffic official on Saturday.
"The husband kicked open the door and there was an altercation as a broken beer bottle was found," says Mpumalanga police spokesperson Dineo Sekgotodi.
"It is further alleged that the traffic official ran out of the chalet and the husband followed him as he fired shots.
"The victim was shot twice and succumbed to his injuries, while the suspect fled the scene.
"Several law enforcement agencies attended the scene and took initiatives to phone the suspect who handed himself over at SAPS Nelspruit.”
An official firearm, believed to have been used by the suspect, was seized by police.
