Mboweni on SAA: ‘Let’s keep our fingers crossed’
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
Finance Minister Tito Mboweni says Treasury is still in the process of acquiring more funding for South African Airways (SAA).
Last month, the struggling national air carrier was placed under business rescue.
“Let’s keep our fingers crossed, let’s keep our fingers crossed. As of yesterday (Wednesday) when I spoke to the DG of Treasury we were still trying to find additional financing for SAA,” he said at a pre-World Economic Forum briefing on Rosebank on Thursday.

The struggling National Air carrier is currently in need of R2 billion, which government had promised last month.
Currently, SAA's debt sits at over R20 billion.
