Mchunu: SA ‘not embarrassed, just saddened’ by EC mass shooting
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
Police Minister Senzo Mchunu doesn’t believe South Africans should be embarrassed by the mass shooting that left 18 people dead in the Eastern Cape over the weekend.

The massacre took place in Lusikisiki on Friday, with 13 people gunned down in one house and four others at a separate home.
Mchunu visited the families of the 18 victims on Tuesday, together with National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola.
Speaking to the media, Mchunu said the police were working hard to shed some light on the tragic events.
"It has saddened the country. Not embarrassed, saddened, and if you talk embarrassment, it would be just to say that in South Africa, you still have barbaric acts like these ones, not embarrass us from any other end, because you've got to look at the nature of what happened, get details, and then conclude in a way."
Mchunu and Masemola are expected to brief the media after they have received a detailed update on the incident.
No arrests have been made.
