Meadowlands residents protest against power cuts

Frustrated residents in Meadowlands, Soweto have taken to the streets to protest against what they claim to be constant power outages in the area.
Several roads have been blocked, with Gauteng Traffic urging motorists to avoid the area.

The protests come amid warnings from Eskom that it would cut power areas with a high number of illegal connections.
Gauteng Traffic spokesperson Obed Sibasa says motorists must avoid Meadowlands Zone 6 and 10.
“Roads have been barricaded with burning tyres and rocks… Please use alternative routes, from Soweto Highway turn right. “
