MEC threatens to shut down warring Olievenhoutbosch taxi associations

Gauteng MEC for Public Transport and Roads Infrastructure Jacob Mamabolo has vowed to shut down all the taxi routes in Olievenhoutbosch if violent clashes amongst taxi associations continue.
The clock is ticking for taxi association in the township near Centurion to end the violence.
Mamabolo has issued a 12-hour notice to the taxi associations.

He says they will start consultations with residents and are ready to close the taxi ranks where they are currently operating.
"We are ready to shut them down and we will shut them down everywhere and it won’t be for three months, it will be for six months and we will introduce buses and mobilise law enforcement.”
He says they will not tolerate the province being turned into a war zone.
