Media kept off UJ campus amid rising tension
Tensions were running high on Wednesday on the University of Johannesburg's main campus amid a strong police presence.
The police's Tactical Response Team (TRT) were deployed to the campus this morning.
Students have been meeting since early to decide on a way forward in the 'Fees Must Fall' protests.
Media have been refused entry onto the campus, but JacarandaFM News can confirm that students have been seen running after shouts and screams were heard.
A student claims that pepper spray has been used.
"We were protesting peacefully. The head of security pepper sprayed people. I didn't move and he pepper sprayed me in my face, saying we always cause trouble. They were beating students, they are taking all student leaders out," she said.
