Mental observation for Limpopo mother accused of beating child to death

A 42-year-old woman Limpopo accused of beating her young child to death will be sent for mental observation.

Mutavhatsindi Ndishavhani, from Ha-Lambani Tswinganani village, was arrested in June for the death of her 11-month baby boy.
Ndishavhani made a brief appearance in the Tshaulu periodical court on Tuesday.
National Prosecution Authority (NPA) spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi says her case has been postponed until the end of August for a mental observation date.

In June, Ndishavhani allegedly locked herself up in her house before praying and subsequently beating the child.
Community members heard the cry of the baby and rushed to the house where they broke down the door to rescue the boy.
The baby was rushed to the Lambani Clinic where he was declared dead on arrival.
