Merc-driving 'Woolies looter’ pleads guilty to theft
Updated | By Newswatch
The so-called 'Woolies' looter admitted on Wednesday to stealing.
Mbuso Moloi was photographed carrying a basket full of items taken from a Woolworths store in Durban's Glenwood in July 2021 while the shop was being looted.
He loaded the goods into his Mercedes Benz.
The luxury vehicle was forfeited to the State in November, and has since been handed back to the bank as it was still under a purchase agreement.

Moloi's trial began this week in the Durban Regional Court.
"Today in the Durban Regional Court, Mbuso Moloi pleaded guilty to theft and contravention of the National Road Traffic Regulation," says KZN NPA spokesperson Natasha Kara.
"He contravened the road traffic regulation by not having the requisite license plates for the vehicle he was driving at the time of commission of the offence. The matter was remanded to 31 May 2023 for pre-sentencing reports. The court extended his bail in the interim."
