Metro police to escort Tshwane buses as operations resume
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
Metro buses in the City of Tshwane are back on the road with the assistance of the Tshwane metro police.
City of Tshwane spokesperson Selby Bokaba says the buses were escorted by metro police on Wednesday morning following the end of a week-long strike.
"All Tshwane Bus Service shifts are back in operation with effect on Wednesday morning.
"We have also deployed Tshwane Metro Police Department officials at all our depots."
Employees downed tools after one of their colleagues was arrested for driving in a designated lane.
The City of Tshwane then threatened employees with court action for what it termed an "illegal" strike.

However, Bokaba says the city will no longer head to the Labour Court since all employees are back at work.
"This therefore means we are no longer continuing the urgent court interdict that we had intended to apply for at the Labour Court in Johannesburg this morning.
"It becomes a moot point because all striking employees are back at work."
Disciplinary action will still be instituted against all those who participated in the strike.
"We are also going to implement the no work no pay rule," adds Bokaba.
