Metro Police officer killed in Benoni

An Ekurhuleni metro police officer died when he was struck by a car in Benoni on Wednesday, the Ekurhuleni metro police department said.

Paul Kruger, 49, tried to stop a car speeding on Kingsway Road, but the driver lost control of the car and hit him, Superintendent Vusi Mabanga said.
Kruger was declared dead at the scene. The driver, in his 40s, was arrested. He would face charges of culpable homicide and reckless or negligent driving.
Kruger had worked for the Ekurhuleni metro police department for 27 years. He was the father of two children.
