Metrorail court bid to keep trains moving
Updated | By Heart FM News
Metrorail will be able to keep trains moving, at least for now, after approaching the courts to have the suspension of its safety permit revoked.
The High Court in Pretoria has postponed the case to Thursday, and if the court denies the Passenger Rail Agency of SA's request, Metrorail services could be suspended.
The suspension follows a collision between two trains in Kempton Park on Thursday, where 300 people were injured.
Prasa's Nana Zenani says the meeting between them and the Rail Safety Regulator could not reach a solution, leaving them with no choice but to approach the courts.
"We also would like them to understand that there are issues that are affecting the rail operations.”
