Metrorail recovers stolen cables worth millions
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
The Metrorail Protection Services investigation team has
recovered cable stolen worth millions from Van Rhyn train station on Monday
morning.

Gauteng Metrorail spokesperson, Lillian Mofokeng, says the team of investigators received a tip-off that led them to a house in Ratanda, Heidelberg, in the east of Johannesburg.
"Two suspects who identified themselves as employees were found on the property with the stolen cable. The owner was not present at the time of the arrests.
"The swift response is highly commendable as we are intensifying our efforts in arresting more in the chain from thieves right up to the buyers of these cables," says Mofokeng.
On Monday, thousands of commuters were left stranded when the train services between Dunswart and Alliance Stations had to be suspended.
