Metrorail released a statement on Tuesday morning, saying services in parts of the Tshwane area have been suspended as a result of the ongoing violence.
"Metrorail train services have been suspended between Cordelfos and Kalafong due to violent protests spilling over to the railway environment," the statement read.
In Kalafong protestors obstructed the railway with stones making it impossible for trains to run safely.
"Metrorail took the decision to suspend the service on this corridor to protect commuters, employees and assets.
However train services in De wildt, Mabopane and Mamelodi Corridor continues to run."
Metrorail Protection Services will continue to monitor the situation throughout the province.
The rails company also urged communities not to endanger their lives or that of commuters by disrupting train services.
"We plead with them to allow people to travel to and from work safely. These assets belong to the community," the statement concluded.
