Metrorail shuts down train services in Germiston
Updated | By Lindiwe Mpanza
Metrorail in Gauteng has been forced to temporarily shut down its train services in and around Germiston complex due to equipment theft.
The issues affected several lines in the Germiston area on Thursday morning.
Metrorail spokesperson Lillian Mofokeng says a decision was taken to suspend services after various signalling and overhead equipment was stolen and vandalised.
"Train commuters are advised to take note of the following interim train movement arrangements: Pretoria and Leralla train terminate at Elandsfontein. Kwesine, Springs and Daveyton train service suspended and Vereeniging trains terminate at Kliprivier."
Metrorail technical teams are hoping to restore services on Thursday afternoon.
