Meyiwa witness accused of ‘picking and choosing’ testimony

State witness Lieutenant Colonel Thobeka Mhlahlo has been accused of wanting to “pick and choose” the subjects of her testimony.
Mhlahlo, a fingerprint and forensic expert, was called out to the Senzo Meyiwa crime scene a day after the footballer’s death.
She was responsible for lifting fingerprint swabs and taking pictures of the evidence at the crime scene.
According to her testimony and pictures taken on the scene, Mhlahlo recorded the door of the Khumalo home as “damaged”.
Her evidence has contradicted that of ballistic expert Captain Christian Mangena, who told the High Court in Pretoria the door only had a bullet hole.
“Is it or is it not your evidence that, as you investigated this door, this door had a hole? Look at picture 131. Is that not your inscription that photo 131 depicts a close-up view of a bullet hole on the kitchen door,” questioned Advocate Charles Mnisi, who represents one of the five accused.
“No, I said there's damage, and I even said that when we looked if the bullet went out on the other side, he didn’t find that,” responded Mhlahlo.
“Did the door have a hole or not,” probed Mnisi.
“It had damage,” responded Mhlahlo.
A bullet projectile was discovered in the kitchen by Mhlahlo, a piece of evidence that Warrant Officer Thabo Mosia seemingly missed.
Mosia was the first forensic investigator on the scene.
According Mhlahlo, the projectile was discovered behind the glass jars filled with cereal.
