Michaelhouse hockey player suspended over alleged use of racial slur
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
Prestigious schools Michaelhouse and St John's College have both condemned all forms of racism and discriminatory behaviour.
This after a hockey match between the KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng schools had to be cancelled this weekend over a racial slur.
It is alleged a Michaelhouse player used a racial slur against a St John's College player during the derby day match on Friday evening.
In a joint statement to parents, the private schools say the Michaelhouse boy who allegedly made the racial slur has been suspended pending a formal disciplinary hearing.
It says they are both committed to work together to ensure their students affirm and respect the dignity of all people.
