Updated | By JacarandaFM News
One man was killed and another critically injured on Wednesday afternoon after a microlight crashed in a field in Alrode, south of Johannesburg.
ER24 says paramedics, along with various other services, arrived on the scene to find the wrecked aircraft in the middle of the field.
"On inspection, paramedics discovered that one patient, a man, had already succumbed to multiple injuries. Nothing more could be done for the patient and he was declared dead on scene," ER24 said.

The second patient was assessed and found to have sustained numerous injuries. Once treated, the patient was transported to a private hospital for further treatment.
The exact cause of the crash is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
