MIDO MACIA - The trial of eight former police officers accused of killing Mozambican taxi driver Mido Macia is under way at the Pretoria High Court. The police officer who drove the police van that Macia was hooked to in 2013, took to the stand. AMCU - The President of the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (AMCU), Joseph Mathunjwa, says gold mining companies owe workers millions of rands in overtime, meal times and wages. He called on the Chamber of Mines to review its current offer. Mathunjwa added that workers could at least get R300 to R400 in meal allowances per month.
Negotiations are ongoing, but if no agreement is reached a strike could follow.
