A baby abducted in Worcester on Thursday has been found and two people have been arrested, Western Cape police said on Sunday.
The two suspects, aged 17 and 42, were arrested in Ashton at about 5.30pm on Sunday, Constable Noloyiso Rwexana said.
The 10-day-old baby was reportedly abducted from the Worcester Hospital maternity ward on Thursday night.
“The investigation was led by [the] Worcester FCS [family violence, child protection, and sexual offences unit]. The baby will be taken to hospital for examination,” Rwexana said.
The two suspects were expected to appear in Worcester Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday on charges of abduction.
