Missing Dinokeng lion found unharmed
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
The male lion spotted roaming in the area of the Buffelsdrift Conservancy has been found.
Kameeldrift community policing forum chairperson Petrus Nel says the lion, named Kwandwe, was taken to a safer place.
Kwandwe was reported missing from the Dinokeng reserve, between the Roodeplaat Dam and the N1 highway, north of Pretoria.
A helicopter was subsequently called in to help find the missing lion.
"Later on the helicopter spotted the lion, while we kept everyone out of the area,” says Nel.
"The lion was moved to the rangers where it was darted and loaded [on a vehicle]. At least it was safe and unharmed.”
