MK Party questions FNB decision to close Zuma bank account
Updated | By ECR
The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has questioned the closure of former president Jacob Zuma's bank account by FNB.

It believes the move is politically motivated, saying the decision was only taken after Zuma announced his decision to back MK ahead of the elections.
But FNB claims the KwaZulu-Natal High Court's ruling was the basis for the decision.
The account in question is reportedly the same one in which Zuma received a R7.8 million home loan from the now-defunct VBS Mutual Bank.
MK Party spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela says FNB could have closed any accounts but chose the one in which Zuma's pension is paid
"Everything, as you can see, points to exactly that, and you know where it’s coming from. They're trying to punish President Zuma as they always do but the resounding response that we are getting from the people will not silence us, nor the people.
"The bank account that is receiving these funds is the one that is rather closed, the one where he was receiving his salary and pension.
"You can see that it is deliberate. There were many other accounts why that one in particular.”
