Mkhize: Govt pursuing most effective Covid-19 vaccines
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Health Minister Zweli Mkhize says government is working closely with international researchers to find the most effective Covid-19 vaccines for the country.
Ministers on the National Coronavirus Command Council addressed the country virtually following on the national address by President Cyril Ramaphosa on Monday night.
Mkhize said as vaccines are being developed, government is learning more about which ones would be best suited for South Africa.
"What we are looking at is which vaccine has got good efficacy and is available and affordable. So we are looking at those factors...So all of them are being evaluated."
Mkhize said government has also decided to work closely and in a more transparent manner with unions.
"We have an agreement with the union that they must have a password to the departmental stock visibility system that will be able to detect the movement of PPEs from supplier to storage."
