Mkhwebane suspension 'premature' as court ruling looms - Holomisa
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
UDM leader Bantu Holomisa has slammed the decision by President Cyril Ramaphosa to suspend Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane.
Holomisa believes Ramaphosa's move is premature as it comes on the eve of a ruling involving Mkhwebane by the Western Cape High Court.
The court is set to deliver a ruling on the president's powers to suspend the public protector.
“That judgment is due to be delivered tomorrow, why would you do this on the eve of the judgment," said Holomisa on Thursday.
"What kind of message are you sending? Perhaps has somebody whispered from the judiciary in the same manner as we witnessed under Abamjee?”

Holomisa also believes Ramaphosa's decision to remove Mkhwebane is linked to her move to investigate the burglary at his Phala Phala farm in Limpopo.
“Last Friday, the public protector was asked by one of the political parties on Friday's ATM and asked you to clarify the break-in at your house in your file.
"But today Mr President, you suspended her, that is the public protector. Who will investigate you sir? Your police who bungled the investigation I doubt they qualify.”
Mkhwebane will remain suspended until the parliamentary inquiry into her fitness to hold office is completed.
