Mmusi Maimane confident of Tshwane victory

"The situation as it stands at the moment, we will be bigger than the ANC, but if - as is the case anywhere else - if someone else wants to create a government with the ANC, let them go ahead and do that. I am not desperate that we must get into government for the sake of getting into government," Maimane said.

Tshwane is one of the most hotly contested municipalities in this election - with both the DA and ANC in the race for numbers.

As the results have been trickling in it has been head to head between the two parties to see who would take it in the end.

By early this evening, 84 percent of the votes have been counted in the municipality - with only a few outstanding wards still outstanding
