The ANC Interim Provincial Committee (IPC) coordinator, Hlomani Chauke confirmed in a statement that Mokgoro has accepted the ANC's decision to redeploy him.

This is after the IPC announced earlier this week that former struggle stalwart, Robben Island prisoner, and IPC member Bushy Maape would take over the reins as premier.

Chauke apologised for how the decision to redeploy Mokgoro may have been handled by the provincial leadership.

Mokgoro replaced former premier and ANC Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) Chairperson, Supra Mahumapelo following his resignation in 2018.

“We particularly wish to apologise for the discomfort and inconvenience that may have been caused by how the decision was communicated to him. We thank Cde Job for his sterling work during his tenure as Premier of the North West Province,” says Chauke.

“We reiterate our assertion that his administrative skills are not lost to the people of our province and the ANC will continue to benefit from them,” he adds.

Maape's appointment comes as Mokgoro finds himself in a predicament with the governing party after it suspended his membership recently.

Mokgoro, Job Dliso, and others are accused of defying the ruling by voting with the opposition in the Provincial Legislature.

On Tuesday, the situation of Mokgoro was met by a mini protest by members of the community, believed to be ANC members, outside the party’s offices in Mahikeng.

One of them included former South African Civic Organisation (Sanco) member, James Gadinabokao, who has been critical of the IPC and its coordinator Chauke.
