Mokgoro to remain as NW premier

The African National Congress (ANC) has named Job Mokgoro as its North West premier candidate.
The decision was taken at a special meeting of the party’s national executive committee in Cape Town on Monday, ahead of the swearing-in of members of Parliament on Wednesday.
Mokgoro first took over as North West premier in June 2018 following the resignation of his predecessor Supra Mahumapelo.
ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule also revealed the names of the presiding officers for Parliament.
"Our chief whip will be Pemmy Majodina. She's a woman, well experienced in government issues, she comes from the Eastern Cape, she's part of that generation that is young people.

"Thandi Modise will be the speaker of the National Assembly and we'll continue by bringing the deputy speaker Lechesa (Tsenoli) as deputy speaker of Parliament."
Magashule named Dorris Dlakude as the deputy chief whip and Nomvula Mokonyane as the chair of chairs.
The National Council of Provinces will have former Johannesburg mayor Amos Masondo as its chairperson and Sylvia Lucas the deputy chairperson.
ANC spokesperson Pule Mabe says Mokgoro will continue at the helm of the province for the sake of stability.
"And at the right time I think we will then interact once more with that matter. So the matter of North West is closed. The premier candidate - premier elect - will be comrade Job Mokgoro."
