Molefe removed as Eskom CEO
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
The Eskom board has given effect to the Public Enterprises Minister Lynne Brown's directive to rescind its decision to reinstate Brian Molefe as the power utility's CEO.
The decision came after a meeting between the board and an inter-ministerial committee.
"In giving effect to and on the basis of the minister's directive contained in the letter dated 31 May 2017, it was resolved that the resolution of the Board of Directors taken on 2 May 2017 is rescinded," says Eskom.
"Furthermore, it was resolved that the reinstatement agreement concluded between Mr. Molefe and Eskom on 11 May 2017 be rescinded."
Molefe will also no longer serve as a director of the board.
Brown told the board to provide her with at least two names within the executive to act as CEO, which she said he hoped to appoint before the end of the week.
The board has confirmed that two names have been provided.
